Cyclin transcription: Timing is everything
نویسنده
چکیده
The stage-specific activation of cyclin-dependent kinases controls the order and timing of cell-cycle transitions. Recent studies offer insight into the mechanism of cell-cycle-regulated transcription of the mitotic cyclins of budding yeast.

Transcriptional Coactivator CBP Facilitates Transcription Initiation and Reinitiation of HTLV-I and Cyclin D2 Promoter
HTLV-I is the etiologic agent for adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) and HTLV-I-associated myelopathy/tropical spastic paraparesis (HAM/TSP). Taxi, the major activator of this virus, is a 40- kDa (353 amino acid) phosphoprotein, predominantly localized in the nucleus of the host cell, which functions to trans-activate both viral and cellular promoters. Recently it has been shown that HTLV-I a...
متن کاملTime Course of Degradation and Deadenylation of Maternal c-mos and Cyclin A2 mRNA during Early Development of One-Cell Embryo in Mouse
Early in the development of many animals, before transcription begins, any change in the pattern of protein synthesis is attributed to a change in the translational activity or stability of mRNA in the egg and early embryo. As a result, translational control is critical for a variety of developmental decisions, including oocyte maturation and initiation of preimplantation development. In this s...
متن کاملPost transcriptional regulation of cyclin E during the embryonic development of Xenopus laevis
The embryonic cell cycle of Xenopus laevis consists of rapid oscillations between S and M phase occurring in the absence of gap phases and their associated regulatory checkpoints. The end of the 12 cell cycle marks the onset of the midblastula transition (MBT) when the cell cycle lengthens establishing gap phases, their associated checkpoint pathways, and the initiation of zygotic transcription...
متن کاملطرح تحلیل تعدادی از mRNA های مادری مخصوص اووسیت در جنین تک سلولی موش
Introduction & Objective: During oogenesis, mRNA is actively transcribed and accumulated in the growing oocytes, and then the transcription stops. Transcription silencing will continue during early embryonic stages at least up to the time when the embryonic genome is activated. Thus the earliest stages of embryogenesis in mammals and other animal species are depending on stored maternal RNAs an...
متن کاملNegative Regulation of dE2F1 by Cyclin-Dependent Kinases Controls Cell Cycle Timing
Many types of cells compensate for induced alterations in the length of one cell cycle phase (G1, S, or G2) by altering the lengths of the other phases. Here we show that, when cells in Drosophila wing discs are delayed in G1, they maintain normal division rates by accelerating passage through S and G2. Similarly, when G2-->M progression is retarded, G1-->S progression accelerates. This compens...
